[Webinar] Mastering the Toolbox: How to Develop a Flexible Approach to Allergen and Gluten Testing

Romer Labs Technical Services Director Christy Swoboda teams up with BRCGS Technical Manager Barry Meikle to tackle some of the issues that make allergen and gluten testing so challenging.

In few areas of food diagnostics is there such an urgent need to be versatile as in allergen and gluten detection. The proteins that comprise food allergens are trickier than other, better-defined analytes, and are subject to denaturing through food processing, making them moving targets for food processors seeking to protect allergic consumers and comply with regulations and internal thresholds.

Food matrices themselves bring their own degree of complexity: thanks to the sheer multiplicity of ingredients and food preparation methods, there is a virtually infinite number of matrices, each with the potential to complicate testing by LFD or laboratory methods such as ELISA or PCR.

In this webinar, Romer Labs Technical Services Director Christy Swoboda teams up with BRCGS Technical Manager Barry Meikle to tackle some of the issues that make allergen and gluten testing so challenging. They explain why there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach to allergen and gluten testing and discuss the value of mastering a variety of tools to fit your unique needs.

You will also learn about:

  • Cross-contamination and allergen control
  • Product specifications
  • Internal audits
  • The complexities of testing hydrolyzed and fermented products for gluten
  • The need for specific validations for complex matrices
  • The toolbox approach to allergen and gluten testing
