DON Testing Solutions for Lab and On-Site Deoxynivalenol Detection

Also known as vomitoxin, deoxynivalenol (DON) is a potent fungal toxin to affect crops grown in cool and moist conditions.

Deoxynivalenol is a known immunosuppressant and may cause kidney problems. Consuming DON-contaminated grain can cause vomiting in humans and animals. Deoxynivalenol is formed by the Fusarium species and mainly affects corn, wheat, oats and barley. Such Fusarium species are also known to co-produce other toxins, especially zearalenone.

Most countries have established regulations to protect consumers from the harmful effects of deoxynivalenol intake. The European Union has established maximum levels for food and recommendations for feed while the US FDA has established advisory levels.
